career or "desperate housewife? "

One thing is keep lingering in my mind recently. The thing that annoying me most everytime I think about my future undertakings. Yep, as you know the title of this entry speaks for the rest of my long deep breath complaining!..sigh! I frequently thinking about my career wise . The question is what I will do when I return to Malaysia for good in a few years ahead. One thing is certain, I will never ever wanted to be a "desperate" housewife, and i think, my parent won't agree if I totally give up my job later.

Some people suggested me to find a job in a private sector as I had in the few years back and some of them said it could be much better if I further my study either, since I am in europe now..plus, the tuition fee is really affordable.Yes, it is affordable and in fact,I don't mind to sit for IELTS, get my degree legalized by all related parties in Malaysia beforehand just to apply for the university, but the biggest problem is, there is no english taught course that related with my field in here. The nearest university that offered the course that i want is almost 2 hours from here if I travel by train. I don't think I can manage to travel everyday for 2 years to attend the class since Master Studies duration is 2 years.

Frankly, I really do not have an intention to work as a civil engineer in private sector anymore. I had enough to deal with the architect, contractors, consultants, clients and etc. Sometimes, I felt regret to turn down 3 interviews from government which was JKR, JPS and PTD. Please don't get it wrong. I turned those interviews down not because I was too choosy but the real reason was because I flew to the U.K.

What about working with Consultant? Well, just named it. I tried both fields but I was not really 100% intrigued about my previous job (refer to my last jobs respectively). I hate to sunbathe under the sun that made my skin burn like hell, when I worked with the contractor and the condition I was before made me feel inferiority complex about myself. Working with consultant not made me comfortable either. I had to attend all the meetings, checking the drawings and sometimes I had to stay back ,up to 8 or 9 p.m in the middle of the night just to prepare things beforehand ,if the meeting just around the corner. The worst part was, the clients kept changing things and at the end they will put the blame on you when something went wrong. Trust me, I tried my uttermost to do my job properly.

Yet,I still remember when I was working with one of the contractor from Dataran Prima, P.J and the project was belongs to IDFR [Institute of Diplomacy and Foreign Affairs].The buildings is located just by the Dewan Bahasa and Pustaka at Jalan Wisma Putra. This project was totally reached the limit of my patience in any single aspects and points that lead me to try a new environment as a civil engineer with one of the consultant at Damansara Uptown. The worked ambiance was ok but it didn't last longer. I gave up my job after 6 months to join Am in the U.k.

Nevertheless, I still feeling lucky because I never unemployed after graduation opss… only once just for 3 months in year 2003 after I resigned from my previous company in Penang. “Well.. Nurul at least you had jobs before! Stop complaining!” Alright! Alright! Just remember that half of loaf is better than none!!

Be in two mind...

Soldes is coming next week on the 1st july 2008 and it will last for a month. Apparently, i still can't decide either to buy the most wanted item that cost me a fortune or go for the trip this coming august..i don't know..i am in two mind..always have second thought about that.Holiday is significant thing to do instead of shopping especially before returning to Malaysia for good. It's so much easier if i have a plenty of money and i reckon i don't need to choose. Just shopping spree and travel all around the world..emmm..just wait and see..soldes ku menanti kehadiranmu..phew...

Embassy

We had been invited by Malaysian Embassy to join a tea party on occasion of the birthday of the Yang Dipertuan Agong. The party was held last weekend at the official residence of Malaysian Ambassador, Dato' Mohammad Kamal and his wife Datin sabrina. That was very thoughtful of them to invite us to the party and trust me they are such very nice upper crust people indeed.

We arrived at the party just in the nick of time when the party was just about to get started. Speech from Dato' was being the opening for the party and was ended by all the guests sang a patriotic song together. What a lovely evening!

During his speech, Dato' mentioned about the list of the dishes to the guests. As far as I can remember there were rendang, nasi minyak, fried vermicelli, ais kacang, kuih kaswi, lamb and plenty more food to list down and to taste. In fact all the menus sound promising and belive me it never wasted to join the party and ate all the foods. Frankly, the foods were nice and tasty. Yummy!!!! We enjoyed meals outdoor just to pamper ourselves in the spick and span surrounding. Furthermore, the sunny spells was ok even sometimes there was bit cloudy and drizzle scattered that evening.

By the way, I think this type of event is worth to join because we can meet up with the person that in charge in the Embassy. Yes, who knows? If you are in trouble in the future.they are the people that we need to turn to. Anyway,I love the event..Very worth it!

grandma

Times fly so fast; it has been two months since my beloved grandma left us. She died at age 75 after suffering from diabetes. What make me feel bit regret about this specifically is because, I haven’t seen her for almost 2 years especially when she’s dying. In fact, the last time I saw her was, before jetting off to the U.K in year of 2006.

There is a storey I want to tell where a week before she left me, I was dreaming about her during my day sleeping. I was dreaming of her coming and visiting me in a familiar location but I can’t precisely remember whereabouts the location was. She came and hugged me and in fact I burst into tears when we were hugging. I felt like she was going to leave me. Suddenly, I woke up and it turned out that I was really crying not just in my dreamed. Immediately, I texted my dad to tell him my new number since it only day 5 after we moved to Belgium and I’ve been busier since then until I have forgotten to tell my family about my new number. From that day onwards, I kept waiting sms from my dad if he’s going to text me to tell me about the departing of my late grandma. Clock was ticking and for every single second I can’t help but felt so worried about my grandma. But still, there wasn’t news or whatsoever.. So, the next day I called my mum to ask about my grandma condition and unfortunately, my mum said she’s getting worse. I know I can’t do anything instead of pray to Allah and hopefully she will be better soon.

Out of the blue in a few days later, I received a text message from my younger sister saying that my grandma has passed away. She left us on 10th April 2008 exactly on the same date as my husband birthday. I was so devastated with the news. I really hope it was just a dream but apparently it wasn’t. With the thousand miles distance between us nothing I could do only send her a prayer in hope that her soul will be rest peacefully over there…Amin..
To my late grandma…even you are not here any more..We will always remember you. I do not know who else is going to leave me in the future before I have a chance to go back to Malaysia for good. Al fatihah to Che Rahmah..

braderie

Every year in end of may there is one crazy Jumbo sale in Liege called Braderie. Braderie is originally from French words which mean cut price in English. During these days all the shops in Liege city centre must been participated in this event for three days and all the items normally will be sold up to 80 percent reduction from the original prices.
Personally I can say that this is the first time ever in my life I saw and experienced this type of jumbo sale. You want to know why? Yes, the answer is during these days all the shopkeepers will set up tent outside their shops. You can find all the branded items such as Calvin Klein, Mango a.k.a MNG, United color of Benetton, Esprit, Tommy Hilfiger and plenty more easily along the streets like flea market. Apart from that, there are bandmaster and bandsmen, cartoon characters and clowns are walking around the city centre to give sweets for people. Whereas, you as a shopper, it only just the matters of you’re financially permitted or not to shopping spree until you drop. Me, myself I managed to buy a jacket from Benetton for the price of 10 euro, MNG socks, Laptop, Jeans from NAFNAF and plenty more, all with the cheap and cut prices. Although I was crazy to spending around but my friend Zek was much crazier than me on that day. It seemed like she wanted to buy all the items together with the shop itself.
By the way, My friend told me that at the end of this month until end of July there is another Big Jumbo sale compare to Braderie called Soldes. The sale sounds promising and I can’t imagine the state I am and will during soldes. I am really up for it, and in fact I started saving some money for that days. Well….we will see ….
